Roman Blinds - these turned out WAY better than I had anticipated! I didn't take any pictures as I went because I was so skeptical that it would actually work.
We had a cat several years ago. The cat was obsessed, and I mean obsessed, with our mini-blinds. It seemed to be the cat's mission in life to ruin as many sets of mini-blinds as possible. Because of this, I have several sets that are missing slats towards the bottom. As this project only required 3-5 slats, I decided to give it a try.
I am in LOVE with the finished product!
Picture coming soon! (Phone is doing an update)
What I learned:
- Fabric glue is really, really sticky. A little goes a long, long ways. If you decide to complete this project, I would recommend either spreading the glue with a sponge brush or running a thin line. Beyond that, the fabric glue was great. It created a strong hold and wasn't overly hard to work with. It stayed wet long enough to move things over a bit if needed (I needed), but wasn't sloppy.
- The instructions call for using a black out curtain as a backing. I didn't do this. I'm not sure I would for the next set, but I would definitely make a back for them. Why? Because from the outside, you can see the slats. Purely aesthetic, but a change I would make.
Overall, this was a really easy project. The entire process (minus drying time) took roughly three episodes of Call the Midwife. I could have probably finished quicker, but I kept getting distracted by the show. I didn't get overly concerned with cutting my material, I just kind of winged it based on the instructions. You really can't mess these up (unless you cut too small, don't do that!)
